Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARRY JAMES JOSEPH CAHILL Peacefully, after a courageous battle with leukemia, Garry Cahill, dearly beloved husband of Marlene and loving father of Mary-Lou and Jonathan, passed away on November 6, 2000 at the age of 43 years. Garry was born and raised in Bryson, Que. It was this "little town in the Ottawa Valley," where his heart always remained. Travelling throughout Alberta and British Columbia, Garry eventually settled in Winnipeg where he met Marlene Kruchak in 1982, and later married in 1984. Garry had a special love of life, which included music, dancing, sports, and camping. He always enjoyed a "good game of cards," which had become especially important during his hospital stay. Always warm and friendly, Garry kept his heart and home open to anyone. No stranger would remain one for long, everyone became his friend. Garry will forever be remembered as someone you could always count on, someone always there for you. Besides his wife Marlene, Garry leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his children, daughter Mary-Lou, son Jonathan; brother Chris (Sandra) Cahill of Oakville, ON; sister Karen (Peter) Pogue of Vernon, BC; his in-laws, Verna and Roman Kruchak; brother-in-law Warren (Pat) Kruchak and sister-in-law Sharon (Ray) Bugyik; many nieces and nephews, relatives, friends, co-workers (brothers) at C.P. Rail and all that knew him. Garry was predeceased by his mother and father, Maureen and John Cahill. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the doctors and nurses on GD 6 and ICU at the Health Sciences Centre, for their care and compassion. Prayer Vigil will be offered Thursday evening, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster St. with Fr. Wenceslao Rebillaco officiating. Interment at Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made to the Education Trust Fund for Mary-Lou and Jonathan Cahill, care of Transcona Credit Union Ltd., or memorial donations to Manitoba Cancer Treatment & Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg R3E 9Z9. Id like the memory of me to be a happy one, Of smiles when life is done. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.

You were also really super Blessed with Marlene as your awesome wife, you really did have the best wife ever. But now your son in law Mike has also been Blessed with having a best wife ever, he married your awesome daughter Mary-Lou 7 years ago, Their wedding was so much fun, absolutely beautiful & precious, I was so happy & Blessed to of been able to witness it & be a part of it.You were certainly there so much in your girl’s thoughts, love, prayers & hearts. They to this day still have so much love for each other & now that love is also included with their 2 little princesses Liliana who’s 5 years old & the little most active 1 Eliza who’s 3 years old. They are such cute & precious little bundles of Joy. They would of been so happy calling you Grampa & having so much fun keeping you busy playing dolls & having tea parties together with you. Your boy Jon has been patiently waiting to marry his fiancé Veronica. They were supposed to of been married last May in Mexico but because of a crazy pandemic they had no choice to cancel & hope for the best & here they are still waiting until this pandemic is all over with. Your wife Marlene & I reconnected about 12 at Riverwood church. Imagine that, out of all places. We have had & still do & always will have a great relationship with each other & it only gets better each day. We are super close to each other. We have so much fun doing fun & crazy things together. She also cheats a lot playing cards with me, she’s always winning. Go figure. I’m sure you’ve seen my Aunty Verna up in Heaven for the last little while, she left us almost 2 years ago to go & meet all of her loved 1’s & to tidy up a bit to make sure that Heaven is always looking the best. Please give her a hug from me & also watch over her for all of us. We all sure do miss her so much. I just wanted to say Thanks Garry for taking such great care of your wife & kids. It’s now my turn to do that for you & I sure hope that I’m doing at least an ok job of it. Blessings always. - Posted by: Bonnie (Cousin in marriage ) on: Feb 18, 2021
